Senior Section
The Senior Section is for boys in school years 10-13.
We meet every Wednesday from 7pm-9pm during term time.
The Programme
Young people in this age group are encouraged to lead their own programme, supported by our leaders. It’s all about the young people deciding what they would like to do and organising it for themselves. This age group has its own programme based on six areas: Get Active, Get Into the Bible, Get Creative, Get Learning, Get Adventurous and Get Involved.
There are opportunities to go away on camps and residentials, which are often the highlights in the annual programme. In addition there may be international opportunities open to the Seniors Section through BB HQ, ranging from attending BB events abroad to volunteering on community projects in developing countries.
Awards

Throughout their time in this age group young people can gain badges and recognition for their participation in the programme. Seniors can get involved in a wider range of awards and qualifications including the internationally recognised Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, as well as a number of awards within the organisation including Young Volunteer Award, the President’s Badge and the highest award in the BB, The King’s Badge.
Volunteering
Many young people in the Seniors age group are interested in getting involved with helping with the younger members in addition to getting involved in the Seniors programme. Training and support is provided for those young people who wish to volunteer in this way.
The Uniform
Young people wear a core uniform which consists of a blue shirt, belt, tie, arm bands, school trousers and black shoes.
The Armband
All young people are given an armband as part of their uniform to display the badges they have earned through attendance and participation. The Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Awards are awarded at the end of each year. In Senior Section, young people can earn staged awards, with 16 currently available – just 5 of these are displayed below. The highest awards earned in Anchors, Juniors and Company all carry over. Young people who have demonstrated strong leadership skills are eligible to become Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), and will have their rank displayed with a chevron badge as seen at the bottom of the armband.
Young people in Seniors are able to earn their President’s Badge (bottom right) and King’s Badge (top centre) – the highest awards available in the Boys’ Brigade. Additionally, young people who earn their Duke of Edinburgh award are eligible to display this as part of their uniform.

Safe & caring
All our adult volunteers undertake vetting & barring checks as part of their registration with The Boys’ Brigade, and are trained to provide a safe and caring environment for all children.
